About VAN
Veza Agency Network is a digital transformation consultancy built as a network of four specialist brands. We design, build, and grow enterprise-grade websites for B2B SaaS, fintech, AI-sector, and programmatic SEO clients. Our WordPress engagements sit inside that same standard: production work where small mistakes carry real downstream cost.
The Role
This is an ad-hoc contract role for a Senior WordPress Developer who can move between day-to-day UI work and the messier parts of enterprise WordPress without dropping quality.
Most of your time is front-end: translating Figma designs into pixel-precise WordPress templates, implementing UI updates, and tuning Core Web Vitals. The rest is the part most contractors won't touch, maintaining custom plugins, reverse proxies, NGINX configs, and PHP import scripts that parse datasets from S3 without blowing past memory limits.
You don't need to love that work. You need to not be intimidated by it.
What You'll Work On
- Front-end and UI: translate Figma designs into pixel-precise, responsive WordPress pages and templates
- Front-end and UI: implement UI and UX updates, modify layouts, and verify cross-browser behavior
- Front-end and UI: tune front-end performance against Core Web Vitals and asset delivery budgets
- Custom plugins: maintain and extend custom WordPress plugins that handle templating and ACF logic across client sites
- Custom plugins: troubleshoot and update existing custom codebases without leaning on bloated commercial themes
- Backend: maintain and occasionally update PHP scripts that process large-scale data imports (for example, parsing datasets from AWS S3 buckets)
- Backend: monitor and tune data-filtering logic to keep database integrity and SEO performance on track
- Backend: manage object-caching strategies (Redis) so frequently updated pages stay fast
- Infrastructure: work with internal and client-side DevOps teams to troubleshoot routing issues, NGINX reverse proxy configurations, and Cloudflare caching behaviors
- Infrastructure: execute safe, code-only deployments via Git to enterprise hosting (Pagely, WP Engine), keeping codebase updates isolated from database syncs
What We Expect
Technical
- Expert-level HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with a real eye for design fidelity (Figma to WordPress)
- Deep knowledge of WordPress architecture: custom post types, custom taxonomies, and the WP REST API
- Proven experience building and maintaining custom plugins and ACF-driven architectures
- Experience maintaining PHP import scripts that parse large datasets without exhausting memory limits
- Working knowledge of Redis cache persistence on frequently updated pages
- Familiarity with reverse proxies, Cloudflare CDN management, and deployment pipelines on managed enterprise hosting
Behavioral
- Responds to messages within 4 business hours during active sprint windows
- Keeps accurate time logs as a standard part of the workflow
- Flags risk early, especially around deployment windows and data-pipeline changes
- Runs self-QA before anything leaves your hands
What We're Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of professional WordPress development, including enterprise builds
- Fluency in PHP, WordPress core, and the WP REST API
- Proven track record maintaining custom plugins in production
- Direct experience with managed enterprise hosting (Pagely, WP Engine, or equivalent)
- Comfort in a contract-only, milestone-driven engagement
Strong advantage
- Programmatic SEO or large-scale content generation experience
- Experience with B2B SaaS, fintech, or AI-sector clients
- Familiarity with headless WordPress or hybrid Next.js and WordPress stacks
Who Will Stand Out
You treat WordPress as software, not a theme stack. You can read an unfamiliar codebase and ship a safe change the same day. You know when a plugin fix solves the problem and when the right answer is a refactor.
You don't break things you didn't plan to touch.
What We Offer
- Contract work billed against milestones, not padded estimates
- Exposure to enterprise-grade WordPress architectures across B2B SaaS, fintech, and AI sectors
- Collaboration with a senior engineering bench
- Clear scopes, clear deadlines, no hand-holding, no chaos
